“Take command of your finances”

by James Thornton about Best Expense

Keeping track of your spending isn't always the most enjoyable task. Yet, if you find a method that's quick and efficient, managing your expenses needn't become a chore.

Best Expense for S60 3rd Edition phones is designed to help you organize your accounting for various types of expenses. The layout of the program is such that it doesn't take long to add entries, and you can make multiple expenses lists.

To add an expense entry in Best Expense you need only click 'New' from the Options menu. Then you simply tap in the amount, the type of expense (e.g. clothing, transport, fees, etc. - these can be personalized), date, currency type, method of payment, and category. You can add a note to the entry if you like to remind yourself exactly what it was for. Adding an entry takes no more than about 30 seconds, so there's no reason why you can't use Best Expense to record everything you pay for.

Your expense entries are displayed in list format and there are a number of options for customizing the sorting of this list. The 'Report' option gives you a more detailed view of your outgoings over time. Unfortunately, Best Expense cannot produce graphs or charts from the data, which would've made for a more visual way of tracking your spending patterns within the application.

One of the best things about Best Expense is that it is able to export data to CSV or QIF format. This allows you to transfer the expense information to a database application for more detailed management and analysis.

If you're looking for a fast and reliable way of keeping a grip on your outgoings, Best Expense is a decent choice.
